Barry D.E.W. Line® TPG Lift Assist Kit 50'

Barry D.E.W. Line® TPG Lift Assist Kit 50'

Product Code: ENS-TPG1-050

This versatile kit allows utility workers to safely and efficiently install temporary grounding equipment (grounding chain) using hot sticks or shotgun sticks (not included).

Since grounding chains with attached AWG 4/0 cables can weigh over 60 lb (27 kg), this system enhances lifting capability and reduces strain, improving worker safety.

The kit features the Barry D.E.W. Line® rope, routed through a pulley and equipped with a snap hook, rope grab, anchor slings, and carabiners to secure the hoisting system. The working load limit (WLL) is 300 lb.

Installation Guidelines

Important: Always confirm the line is de-energized before installation, following standard safety protocols.

1. Prepare the Area

  • Keep the rope clean and dry to maintain insulation properties (refer to the Barry D.E.W. Line® user manual).
  • Use a ground tarp to prevent contamination.

2. Set Up the Hoisting System

  • Attach the pulley to the grounding clamp (clamp/pulley) and feed the rope through.
  • Connect the snap hook to a second grounding clamp (clamp/snap hook).
  • Note: Clamps are not included and must be supplied by the user.

3. Hoist the Grounding Chain

  • Attach the clamp/snap hook to the grounding chain cable, near the clamp that will be fixed to the conductor.
  • Use a stick to lift and install the clamp/pulley onto the conductor.
  • Once in place, remove the stick and install the rope grab to secure the system.
  • Pull the rope to hoist the grounding chain, locking it in place next to the clamp/pulley.
  • Ensure the clamp/pulley is installed and tightened before engaging the rope grab.
  • Attach the stick to the grounding chain before lifting, ensuring it's ready to push the grounding clamp onto the conductor.

4. Secure & Remove the System

  • Once the grounding chain is tightened on the conductor, remove the clamp/snap hook and lower it to the ground.
  • Detach the clamp/pulley and rope grab, leaving only the grounding chain in place.
  • When work is complete, remove the grounding clamp from the conductor using the stick.

This system simplifies the installation and removal of grounding chains, improving efficiency and worker safety.
